A very wise vocalist once said, “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose,” and dangit! if she didn’t get that right. It’s what we crave, that need to feel off-the-clock, out-of-the-routine, free to come and go, do as you please. We’re all in search of this and some travel far and wide to get their fill, when those who are the most tuned-in with their mind, body and spirit know that all we need is only a few short blocks away at Fweedom, our most-beloved Seattle pot shop.

Now more than ever we are in tune with what it means to be part of the free world. Today, National Freedom Day, February 1st of 2017, is more significant than we could ever have predicted, as we look back just a year ago to a much kinder, gentler time. As an unprecedented political chess game is played out before us, our sense of civil liberties and freedom hangs in the balance.

But what emerges through the uncertainty is beautiful.

We understand how great it is to have this freedom that we have always known, and now that it's been threatened, all walks of life have bonded together in harmony. From the Women's March to the hundreds of thousands the ACLU has raised, to viral movements catching on at a greater velocity than the latest Kardashian lip kit, we are one tight extended family.

We express gratitude to the technology that has enabled us to share information rapidly. Without it, we may not have access to so many diverse points of view and to uncover the real truths behind the stories. Real-time access to developing stories plays a critical role. For once we can thank social networks for keeping us informed on issues of substance.

Because there's so much going on, we owe it to ourselves to stay informed, but we should find balance by giving ourselves permission to take a break. And ... take a wild guess what our recommendations may be?
