Now that recreational marijuana is legal in Washington, many people are experiencing their first trip to an actual pot shop. Upon walking in, you will see the walls or display cases of all kinds of products.
Figuring out what kind of cannabis is best for you will be a game of trial and error. Do you want a strain high in THC or CBD and what’s the difference? What does it all mean?
Fweedom pot shop, with locations in Mountlake Terrace, Mount Vernon, and Seattle, has put together a quick and dirty glossary of the important info about THC and CBD and what it all means.
THC — Tetrahydrocannabinol is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana's psychological effects. It acts like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body. Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in certain areas of the brain associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception. THC attaches to these receptors and activates them and affects a person's memory, pleasure, movements, thinking, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception.
CBD — Cannabidiol doesn't make people feel "stoned" and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive or less psychoactive than THC-dominant strains makes it an appealing option for folks looking to relax without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.
So the answer is, if you’re looking purely for relaxation, with none of the psychoactive or "intoxicated" effects, you’ll want to look at strains high in CBD.
At the end of the day, find a weed you like and works. To begin your search for the best recreational pot for you, come into Fweedom. We’ve got cannabis in all its forms, be it flower, oils, edibles and more!
