Research on marijuana’s effects on the brain is notoriously contradictory, and has been hampered by drug laws and societal bias. But, as High Times reports, a recent study in the Netherlands seems to support a growing body of evidence that marijuana can enhance brain activity. After conducting regular MRIs on 33 weed smokers and 43 “healthy controls,” the researchers found that pot smokers had larger cerebelli, a section of the brain associated with motor control, but also linked to language, attention, and mental imagery. Because the study was so small, it’s not exactly conclusive, but it does seem to support what every weed aficionado already knows: getting high expands the mind. The trick is to take advantage of this enhanced state.
Although we know it’s tempting to while away the winter with your bong and your Netflix, there’s a plethora of upcoming events that might also benefit from an enhanced state of consciousness. First on our radar is Tedx Seattle 2016, on November 19 at McCaw Hall. The impressive roster of speakers includes journalist and former NPR reporter Elizabeth Arnold, Oren Etzioni (CEO of the Allen Institute on Artificial Intelligence), biologist Ranae Holland, and documentary filmmaker Eliachi Kimaro.
But before you step out to absorb new ideas, stop by Fweedom for some quality Seattle weed. The professional staff at our Mountlake marijuana store and our location on Aurora avenue are happy to make recreational marijuana recommendations specific to your proposed event. To make the most of Tedx Seattle, we recommend something with a high THC content, such as 509 Kush by Fifty Fold (72.6 % THC) or Oleum’s Blueberry, which kicks ass with 83.1% THC. Or you could consider lighting up one of our pre-rolls. Right now we’re loving Blue Fire (by Leaph) and Blue OG (by Fifty Fold). Whatever your choice, we’re confident that you’re on your way to intellectual adventure…
